How High School Seniors can gain Professional Recognition

Picture it, It’s the senior year of high school and your grades are on track,

You already know what you want to do after school and your ready to start your adult life.

But how?

You know you need to make an impression and show your worth,

But how?

Joining the world means changing your perspective on life, even if your going to college next year your mind needs to go from high school student to business professional.

Law or medical school? Start looking at your wardrobe and ask yourself who do you want to work for and what would they expect.

Trade school? How does your current vehicle work with the profession? Can you haul tools if needed?

Dressing and acting the part, thinking like the professional you want to be will help your mind solidify it into reality and impact your results.

Keep your desired goals in mind.

For example, lets say you want to be a Contractor and even though you still need trade skills you also need menatlity.

-Getting on a sleep schedule like a contractor, up at 5am( or earlier) and in bed around 9pm, Mon-Fri.

Showing up to jobs late is not a good sign to paying customers so start working on punctuality now.

-Start saving for the vehicle you will need while your in school (even if you buy an old beater truck just to start off with $3-5,000 is a lot of money to come up with plus the maitenence)

-Go look at the price of the main tools you will need and figure out what you need to save up for and what you can slowly get now ( watch for sales while during the school year)

-Do you own kakis and a polo or button up that says “I’m a professional” because as funny as it would be to show up in a Hawaiian shirt, it’s not a good idea until you have a reputation to fall back on

-Seek out other professionals!

Talk to a contractor and ask them if they will share the mistakes they made in the beginning and learn from them.

Talk to people who have used a contractor and find out what did and did not impress them about the experience. Give yourself knowledge for later. ( *Do not comment or talk negatively about any company, you may run into them later)

Look for contractors online, Do they have a website or listing? How many employees for the area? What will you need to obtain later down the road when your ready?

These are all things to start thinking about as you begin to build a life for your self and figuring out who you are and want to be.

Something else worth mentioning is that no matter the profession you chose,

ALL Professionals have photos taken

From Doctors to Contractors, Insurance agents to Athletes

It’s another tool used by professionals of all fields

Professional photos help your professional image, even if your right out of high school.

Getting that professional image started now helps your future.

Senior photos make an impacting impression and they portray your personality and determination to get things done. It’s a right of passage into the world and professionalism is key.

Weather your going to Trade, medical, law school or striving to be a professional athlete you need photos to show colleges and employers your serious about your studies and ready to advance to the next level.

As an athlete are you looking to go pro or are you just looking to get a scholarship? What will the scouts look for outside of your grades? Would an action shot during a game clipped to an application stand out?

Would a professional photo of you dressed in the clothes of the occupation you chose look better on an application or resume? (Professional photographers can help with clothing and make up if needed.)

A Vet tech student having a professional pictures done with animals sends a clear message,

If your trying to get accepted into a fraternity or sorority, they want to ensure you’re the right fit to live with them and that you will abide by house rules.

Even if you don’t have an idea what your doing after high school, mentality is still something to think about.

Putting yourself in the mindset of a professional can open doors.

What if you have a new opportunity appear after you graduate and need a photo of yourself?

Like needing to make business cards or a linked in profile for a job you just found out about and they are hiring right now

Maybe that really nice photo of you on your grandmas refrigerator gets handed to the right person and you get an offer for summer internship… anything is possible

The last year of high school the world opens up to you and everyone is looking at who you have become, personally and professionally. Why not portray yourself how you want to be seen and with your best qualities shinning through.

It’s not just family looking or another picture in the yearbook. You can start creating your professional image early by growing your mentality and changing into the adult you want to be.

Its not a picture, it’s an image, And that’s how to look at it

How do you want employers to view you?

You have the ability to start building the foundation for your new life now with just a few simple changes to your daily routine.

Get noticed and achieve your goals.
